Matthew 12:36-37
36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.
2. The last words of Jesus from the cross.
John 19:28-30
28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When He had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
3. With Jesus’ last words He tells us our mission.
Matthew 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
4. The Disciples were the first ones called to fulfill the Great Commission.
Matthew 10:2-4
2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
5. Do you believe in the mission God has called Woodbine to fulfill?
The question is not if you can fulfill the Great Commission. The question is will you help fulfill the Great Commission.
How can you help fulfill the Great Commission?
1. Realize what Christ has done for you!
2. Remember you are the church!
3. No one can do everything but everyone can do something!
4. Don’t worry about what you don’t have!
5. Keep your eyes on Jesus!
The Great Commission has not been completed. It is up to every Christ Follower to be a part of this mission! Are you?
